There was a time not too long ago when Hall & Oates were the butt of many a joke.

Fortunately, with the help of 500 Days of Summer and its prominent placement of “You Make My Dream Come True,” Hall & Oates songwriting prowess is once again seeing the proper appreciation.

The Triangle will have the opportunity to see this legendary duo in person when Hall & Oates come to the Durham Performing Arts Center this holiday season.

“Daryl Hall and John Oates have been on our ‘bucket list’ of special shows ever since DPAC opened its doors,” DPAC General Manager Bob Klauss said. “To land this special and rare concert appearance for the Triangle is just incredible.”

Hall & Oates are set to take the stage at the beautiful DPAC Dec. 7. Tickets go on sale Sept. 23, and start at $48.50 plus convenience charges.

Meanwhile, Daryl Hall will release his fifth solo album, Laughing Down Crying, Sept. 27, though Verve Forecast. The album’s release is preceded by the single “Talking to You (Is Like Talking to Myself).”

John Oates released his third studio album, Mississippi Mile, April 12.
