No one can accuse Megafaun of slacking off on the job. Just last year the Durham-based freak folk band dropped an extended EP in Heretofore. Now, a year later, the band has a new full-length on the way.

The self-titled album will be dropped September 20 through Hometapes; the first single from that LP is “These Words” and finds drummer Joe Westerlund incorporating ambient sounds with “frogs and cicadas.”

Another band with a new album on its way is Dex Romweber Duo, who will release Is That You In The Blue? July 26 through Bloodshot Records.

The album’s lead single, “Jungle Drums,” finds Romweber returning to the most basic of his rockabilly roots.

Describing the track, Bloodshot writes, “For pure rock and roll at its most glorious, Dex, his vintage Silvertone guitar and Sara’s wall of sound drums kick out the jams, mf’ers, on ‘Jungle Drums.’”

And finally, a relatively new band comprised of several old hats have put their own spin on Lonnie Walker crow-fav “Summertime.”

T0W3RS, featuring members of The Huguenots and Lake Inferior, is turning its gears, pushing out new tunes, and one of its first is a cover of “Summertime” from Lonnie Walker’s incredible debut These Time Old Times.

The band recently finished up work on its debut for DiggUp Tapes with producer Brian Paulson (Archers of Loaf, Superchunk, Rosebuds).
