No joke, the headline for this story was almost, “A whole lot of AWESOME coming to Raleigh Amphitheater.” I can’t say enough good things about the booking at Raleigh Amphitheater this summer; here’s to an amazing third season.

The latest addition to the downtown shed’s incredible sophomore schedule is Fleet Foxes, who recently released Helplessness Blues — the follow-up to 2008′s acclaimed eponymous debut LP.

Joining Fleet Foxes is The Walkmen, whose sixth studio album, Lisbon, was released in September 2010.

Tickets for the September 21 show go on sale June 24 at 10 a.m. through LiveNation.com, the Time Warner Cable Music Pavilion box office, the Progress Energy Center Box office, Ticketmaster or charge by phone at (800)745-3000.

Fleet Foxes and The Walkmen is just the most recent in a string of concerts at the Raleigh Amphitheater geared towards Downtown Raleigh’s eclectic music scene. Earlier this month Mumford & Sons was joined by The Low Anthem, Wiz Khalifa opened the season and Bon Iver will take the stage with The Rosebuds in tow later in July.

Helplessness Blues earned near universal acclaim since its May release, debuting at number four on the Billboard 200.
