Trekky Records has done it again. In its fourth year, TRKfest will again prove to be in the top tier of the Triangle’s festivals.

This summer, Trekky’s annual festival will be held on Aug. 13 and features a headlining set from Bowerbirds. Also performing throughout the day are Mount Moriah, Midtown Dickens, Hammer No More the Fingers, Embarrassing Fruits, Ryan Gustafson, Yardwork, Brice Randall Bickford, Butterflies and Vibrant Green.

While originally intended to be a one-time event, the festival is now an annual institution,” Trekky explains. “One magic day in the sun, every year.”

As in years past, the event will take place at Piedmont Biofuels in Pittsboro, and there is a $10 suggested donation.

“With the help of Piedmont Biofuels and The Abundance Foundation, we will attempt to minimize the ecological impact of the festival, reducing waste and emphasizing local and sustainable foods and drinks,” Trekky says.

In addition to the tunes, there will be local art, crafts and clothing for sale, a Pants-off Dance-off competition, coffee sack race, musical chairs cake walk, “Make Yr Own Tie-Dye TRKfest Shirt,” sprinklers and water things, tour of Piedmont Biofuels, free haircuts, shadow puppets, and a “Bliss Tent.”

Several food trucks will also be on site, including Pie Pushers, Parlez-Vous Crêpe and OnlyBurger.
