Along with Duke’s Music in the Gardens concerts, Chapel Hill’s Locally Grown series is one of the Triangle’s summer gems.
Set atop the Wallace Parking Deck on Rosemary Street, past performances have included Lost in the Trees, The Old Ceremony and The Love Language. This summer’s series will feature sets from Future Islands, Holy Ghost Tent Revival, Mandolin Orange and several others.
Organized by the Chapel Hill Downtown Partnership, Locally Grown is a nine-week music and film series set to kick-off June 23 with performances from Mandolin Orange and Big Fat Gap.
The series continues June 30 with a showing of Pirates of the Caribbean: The Curse of Black Pearl followed by Harry Potter & the Deathly Hallows – Part I on July 14 and Megamind on July 21.
The music kicks back in to gear July 28 with Holy Ghost Tent Revival and The Big Picture.
On August 4 is a screening of North by Northwest, Toy Story 3 on August 11 and ET: The Extra-Terrestrial on August 18.
And for the grand finale, Motor Skills will open for Future Islands on August 25.
All events are free, movies begin at 8 p.m. and concerts start at 7 p.m.
