Bon Iver will make its long-awaited return to the Triangle this summer when the band brings its highly anticipated sophomore LP to the Raleigh Amphitheater.
Fronted by Triangle ex-pat Justin Vernon, Bon Iver will perform at the Downtown shed July 29. Joining them is Raleigh’s own The Rosebuds, who will be sharing the stage with Bon Iver for a healthy chunk of the summer.
Tickets go on sale Friday, May 13 at 10 a.m. for between $24.50 and $37.
Recorded and mixed at April Base Studios in rural Fall Creek, Wisconsin, Bon Iver, Bon Iver is the follow-up to the 2008 full-length For Emma, Forever Ago and 2009 EP Blood Bank.
“Bon Iver is often equated with just me,” Vernon explained, “but you are who surrounds you, and for Bon Iver, Bon Iver I wanted to invite those voices as musical catalysts.”
As a result, Vernon recruited a healthy selection of friends to build on the album’s layers. Greg Leisz contributed pedal steel throughout Bon Iver, Bon Iver, while the Colin Stetson shared his bass sax, Mike Lewis supplied alto and tenor sax, and Brooklyn-based C.J. Camerieri contributed trumpet.
Bon Iver, Bon Iver will see a release June 21 through Jagjaguawar. The Rosebuds will release Loud Planes Fly Low June 7 through Merge Records.
