Tir Na Nog Irish Pub is doing its part to help those devastated by the fatal tornadoes that struck Downtown Raleigh April 16.
The benefit, scheduled for Tuesday, April 26, will feature 10 local acts performing for the Quistian-Nino and Coronado-Nino families.
Nine-year-old Daniel Quistian-Nino, 8-year-old Osvaldo Coronado-Nino, 3-year-old Kevin Uriel Coronado-Nino and 6-month-old Yaire Quistian-Nino died when a tree fell on the home of Cristina Alvarez in the Stony Brook North mobile home park.
Police say Cristina Alvarez was home with the children when she heard the tornado approaching the park. At the time, police say Alvarez tried to protect the children by putting the three boys in a closet. She was holding 6-month-old Yaire.
Alvarez is the mother of Daniel and Yaire; she is the aunt of the other two boys.
Tir Na Nog says it is “only asking that you donate what you can to help these families,” and that proceeds raised through the benefit will help with “burial costs and other necessities.”
The show is set to start at 5:30 p.m. with a performance from Stella Lively, followed by Brett Harris at 6, Richard Bacchus at 6:30, This House on Fire at 7:10, Jack the Radio at 7:50, Maldora at 8:30, Antibubbles at 9:10, Terry Anderson and The Olympic Ass-Kickin Team at 9:50, A Rooster for the Masses at 10:30, and finally Hank Sinatra at 11:10.
On April 21, Hopscotch partnered with Vitaminwater to host a launch party at Tir Na Nog featuring The Rosebuds, Heads on Sticks and SPCL GST. The show also served as a benefit for the Red Cross Tornado Relief.
The benefit raised nearly $1,000.
