Raleigh darlings The Rosebuds announced today the release of their fifth album for Merge Records, Loud Planes Fly Low.
The LP is set to be released June 7 and is said to be the duo’s “most inventive album to date.”
A press release written by Independent Weekly music editor Grayson Currin says the band formed the very week Ivan Howard and Kelly Crisp were married, and through two albums that marriage collapsed.
“Written and rewritten, recorded and re- recorded in fits and starts, Loud Planes Fly Low allowed Kelly and Ivan to have the very conversations about their relationship that they’d long avoided,” Currin wrote.
This fifth album represents a “sad-eyed and bright new start for Kelly and Ivan, beautifully born of the struggle to define their relationship as bandmates—and more importantly, friends.”
