It’s still early, but with one date announced, the Raleigh Amphitheater‘s sophomore season is already looking more promising than its inaugural one.
While the outdoor venue opened its doors June 4 with a well-received local-centric show featuring I Was Totally Destroying and The Connells, criticism fell upon Downtown amphitheater when Backstreet Boys was announced as the the “official” kickoff event on June 5.
Fast forward to a year later, we know little about this summer’s concert schedule except the first announced date of April 19 will feature a performance from Colorado-based producer Derek Vincent Smith, better known as Pretty Lights.
Tickets for the show go on sale Feb. 18 at 10 a.m. for $25.
After delivering three new EPs in 2010, Pretty Lights is hitting the road with drummer Cory Eberhard for a tour that Smith promises with be “bigger and brighter than ever.”
“PL will be hitting the road … in April before the summer festival season kicks off, and they’re going to be bigger, brighter and more banging than ever,” a release reads. “Seriously, the production is getting stepped up in big ways.”
I, for one, am amped about seeing Pretty Lights’ stage show against Raleigh’s shimmer wall.
In addition to his EP series, Pretty Lights released a handful of remixes, including Pink Floyd’s “Time,” Kanye West’s “All of the Lights” and Jay-Z’s “Empire State of Mind.”
