I digress, the artist responsible for the song that inspired Johnny 5′s name is coming to the Durham Performing Arts Center May 6. Tickets to see El DeBarge go on sale Friday, Feb. 4 at 10 a.m.
“DPAC is happy to welcome one of American R&B’s distinctive voices, El Debarge,” DPAC GM Bob Klaus said. “His catalog is well known, and he contributed to the soundtrack of our lives. You can recognize him as the lead vocalist of his family’s group ‘DeBarge,’ and as a solo artist.”
El DeBarge released his first album in 16 years, Second Chance, in November. The first single from the album, the title track, is nominated for two Grammys in the categories Best Male R&B Vocal Performance and Best R&B Song.
