Indie lo-fi sweethearts Wavves and Best Coast are teaming up for a 27-date tour co-sponsored by MTV and Spin Magazine.

I had no idea MTV even knew who either Wavves or Best Coast are … Were they on an episode of Jersey Shore?

I digress, the tour is set to hug the east coast for a good portion of the dates, including a gig at Cat’s Cradle in Carrboro on Jan. 29.

Best Coast’s Bethany Cosentino told Spin that combined with Wavves, the bands’ summery vibes are the perfect cure for winter blues.

“We’re both in summery California bands and I think by doing the tour in winter, we’re bringing summer to places where it’s f’ing freezing,” Cosentino said. “We’ve been talking about what we want the vibe to be — we want it to be a beach-themed sort of thing, but we’re still brainstorming.”

In addition to the tour, Wavves and Best Coast have teamed up to contribute a holiday-themed track to an up-coming compilation from Target. The track, “Got Something For You,” is available as a free stream on the Target Web site, and will be available for download on Nov. 28.

Ticket information for the Jan. 29 show is not yet available, though the bands do promise a special, limited-edition piece of merchandise available at each of the gigs on the tour.
