Details about the final chapter in Little Brother‘s storied career are slowly being revealed.
The Durham-based hip-hop duo is set to release its last album, LeftBack, April 20 through the Hall of Justus Music Group. And much like the Justus League that helped nurture Phonte Coleman and Rapper Big Pooh‘s respective careers, LeftBack is shaping up to be a family affair.
“With production from the likes of Khrysis, Denaun Porter, Zo!, Symbolyc One, J. Bizness and King Karnov, LeftBack is poised to take listeners on an epic auditory adventure,” a press release reads.
The album features 13 track with contributions from Torae, Truck North, Jozeemo, Chaundon, Median, Darien Brockington, Yahzarah and Carlitta Durand.
For the artwork, the emcees find themselves “standing tall amidst the ghosts of albums past, press coverage and other memories accumulated throughout Little Brother’s celebrated career.”
“We wanted the fans to have that moment of nostalgia when looking at this artwork,” Rapper Big Pooh explains. “You are able to take a quick journey from the beginning of our careers to the end as Little Brother by glancing at the artwork.”
As we approach the album’s release, more details should continue to emerge, including a tour and hopefully some streaming tracks. Meanwhile, Phonte’s Grammy-nominated collaboration with Dutch producer Nicolay has a gig coming up Sunday, Feb. 14 at Cat’s Cradle; and Carlitta Durand has a show Feb. 18 at The Pour House with M1 Platoon.
