RALEIGH — Raleigh City Council on Tuesday paved the way for a new music venue in Downtown Raleigh.
Council members unanimously approved a site plan, construction bid and special use permit for the 5,000-seat amphitheatre, which will host live music and other events.

To satisfy neighbors’ concerns, the City agreed to end concerts by 10:30 p.m. weeknights and by 11 p.m. on weekends. During summer months, concerts can be hosted until 11 p.m. on three weeknights. These “wild card” nights must receive prior approval from the Citizens Advisory Council.
The $2.6 million project will include a stage and movable seating on the site across from the Raleigh Convention Center.
Construction could begin next month, with the venue ready to open by May 15.
Raleigh will partner with concert promoter Live Nation, which is promising to bring 20 acts to the venue each year.
