If Thursday’s Local Beer, Local Band isn’t already enough local music for your liking, the awesome folks at WKNC have announced a Friday evening series at N.C. State.

“Fridays on the Lawn” will kickoff Sept. 25 with I Was Totally Destroying It and Luego, both of whom are planning to release new full lengths in October.

The series continues Oct. 30 with Max Indian and Schooner, and Nov. 20 with Kooley High and The Beast.

All shows are scheduled to begin at 6 p.m. on Harris Field in front of Witherspoon Student Center. The series is a joint effort between WKNC, the Union Activities Board, the Inter-Residence Council and Student Government.

Also coming to us from KNC is the latest in the station’s sessions@KNC series. Recently these have come few and far between — the last was May 3 with Simple — but they’ve launched into the school year with one of my personal favorites.

North Elementary stopped into Caldwell Hall lounge back in August to record three brand new tracks and one newer version of the song “Lose Your Favorite Things.”

“As a result of a day properly divided between music-making and skater-heckling, you all have the chance to download three new North Elementary Tunes and one old one,” WKNC writes. “I highly recommend you do, because they rock.  If you’re a geek like me, listen to Chad’s drums in the slow part of “Lose Your Favorite Things.” Great Drums + Caldwell Lounge = incredible sound.”

Head over to KNC’s blog to download the four cuts from the session.

One thing that WKNC failed to mention off the bat is that all of the Friday’s on The Lawn series will be broadcasted LIVE during the Local Beat during each of the shows!

The North Elementary sessions at WKNC sound amazing. These are great songs!
