Hip-hop/Jazz quartet The Beast will release its debut full-length album Oct. 16 through the Beast’s own label, Chakra Con Music, and Chapel Hill-based Robust Records.
A press release from the band explains that Silence Fiction captures “the group’s first two years of risk-taking and progressive songwriting” and “presents a fully-fledged introduction to one of the most innovative bands to emerge from North Carolina.”

The release will be celebrated with a performance at the Duke Coffeehouse on Oct. 16 with Carlitta Durand, Kooley High and Freebass 808. The group describes the show as having the theme of “Silence Fiction,” meaning “‘to quiet falsehood,’ or simply, ‘stop lying.’”
Silence Fiction was mixed at Osceola Studios in Raleigh and mastered at The Kitchen in Carrboro. The album will be available at the release show as well as online and at local record stores.
