N.C. Symphony Holds Auditions For Youth Orchestra

RALEIGHThe North Carolina Symphony hopes to find some all-stars.

The symphony and the Triangle Philharmonic Association are starting the North Carolina Symphony Young All-Stars, a chamber orchestra for advanced high school musicians. Students between the ages of 14 and 19 can audition Saturday at the Progress Energy Center for the Performing Arts in Raleigh.

The youth orchestra will be led by the symphony’s music director, Grant Llewellyn, and the association’s music director, Hugh Partridge.

The youth orchestra will hold concerts on Dec. 6 and April 11. Accommodations in private homes can be provided for students who live outside the area.

A fee of $75 is required and scholarships may be available.
