If you thought you were saving money when you picked up the $30 tickets to see U2 on Oct. 3, be prepared to cough up another $20 for parking.
Considering that the standard cost for parking at the RBC Center is 10 bucks, that’s a 100 percent hike.
Any U2 tailgaters will have to pay $40 to park their RVs; but that doesn’t seem too outrageous considering the number of spaces they consume anyway. That also does not differ from the posted RV costs for Carter-Finley Stadium on game days.
Here are a few recommendations:
Carpool
Take a cab
Get a bunch of friends together and rent a limo
Have someone drop you off
Walk
Ride your (or a friend’s) bike
Park & Ride
Also, unlike most concerts in the area (indoor or out), there will be no alcohol allowed in the stadium, per the rules of N.C. State facilities. However — like with football and basketball games — beer and unfortified wine will be permitted in the tailgating areas, but kegs are prohibited.
Doors are scheduled to open before the concert at Carter-Finley at 5 p.m. Muse should hit the stage around 7 p.m. while U2 is scheduled to begin at 8:30.

Here’s a tool that makes it easy to carpool to the U2 concert.

Just add a marker and contact other concert goers in your area.
Use it for other events.

This parking is total b.s. I originally wasn’t going to drive from Charlotte to Raleigh to see this show because of principle. We have a 75,000 seat stadium in the middle of downtown Charlotte with $10 parking or $1.50 light rail. Or better yet, FREE if you live in the uptown like I do.
Better yet the last U2 tour sold out in Charlotte in less than an hour. So they go to Raleigh ??????????
$20 for parking, now Raleigh sucks even more !

The $20 parking really is ridiculous.
What really gets me is there is no price increase if you drive an RV. If you drive an RV to a football game, it’ll cost you $40. If you drive an RV to U2, it’ll cost you $40.
But I really can’t complain about the choice of venue. Charlotte gets some really killer shows. And Myrtle Beach is a pretty short drive. So let’s give one to Raleigh once in a while.

We’re flying in for this concert. Are cabs generally readily available to and from the stadium? Not familiar with Raleigh…

You can definitely catch a cab, but it’s not going to be cheap unless your staying pretty close to the stadium.
I’d suggest asking the concierge at the hotel if they have a suggestion to get to Carter-Finley. And make sure you’ve arranged return transportation.

Thanks for the tip. It’s the return transpo that worries me – I don’t want to be stranded at the stadium at midnight!

Most likely the only reason for a $20 parking charge is to discourage each person to arrive in a car. It’s not U2 charging and making money from it ! …. and btw, Raleigh beats the hell out of Charlotte!

are there any shuttle buses from raleigh for the show? cabs sound impossible for the return trip!

traffic to get in C-Finley was hell !!!! two 1/2 hours from Chapel Hill made me miss Muse….when????is Wake county address the traffic patterns around the State Fairgrounds, Carter-Finley and RBC complex?????? the U2 show was MAGNIFICIENT but traffic in and out of the venue was terrible!!!! on top the rip off of 20 dollars for parking is a big thumbs down for the city of Raleigh to hold an event like this…..
