Raleigh-based quintet Birds of Avalon have been asked to play this year’s The Flaming Lips-curated All Tomorrow’s Party in New York on Sept. 13.
The band will join the likes of The Flaming Lips, Caribou, Deerhoof, Crystal Castles, Super Furry Animals, Black Moth Super Rainbow and Menomena on the Sunday date. The three-day event will also feature performances from The Jesus Lizard, Iron & Wine, Animal Collective, Sufjan Stevens, Deerhunter, Melvins, EL-P, Akron/Family and Autolux, among many others.
Unfortunately for us, the booking means that Birds of Avalon have been forced to postpone its Sept. 10 performance on Sessions at Studio B. But we guess ATP is a suitable reason to reschedule!
Coming off the release of Uncanny Valley through Volcom Entertainment, Birds have a show on Aug. 29 at Cat’s Cradle just before shipping off to New York. The band will be joined by The Never, Annuals and Hammer No More The Fingers to herald the release of Hear Here: The Triangle.
