The brainchild of songwriter John Harrison, North Elementary turns out some of the most soulful indie-pop tunes that the Triangle has ever produced. And before anyone mentions The Comas 2004 album Conductor, know that Harrison had a hand in bringing that album to life.

For his third album, Harrison knew he had something special and despite facing label hardships, he trudged on until he could find the ideal way to release the material.
“This record became almost a monkey on my back, because I do think it’s special,” Harrison told the News & Observer. “It came together in a way that made me want to take care of it and give it the best opportunity to be out there”
Nearly three years after finishing the album, North Elementary released Not For Everyone, Just For You through Atlanta-based Eskimo Kiss Records on Feb. 24.
“Not For Everyone, Just for You, often feels like The Jesus & Mary Chain’s Reid Brothers meeting the Flaming Lips in the Left Banke, gracefully balancing hooky jangle and textured drift,” Independent Weekly’s Chris Parker writes.
Not For Everyone, Just for You was recorded at Sound of Music in Richmond in the winter of 2006-’07 with producer Alan Weatherhead (Hotel Lights, Sparklehorse).
