If there was a backyard tiki beach party filled with hot rod enthusiasts, pin-up girls and B-movie horror actors, I would imagine Killer Filler as the house band.
SetlistKiddie Pool |
Conceived and “lyric free since 2004,” Killer Filler is the all-instrumental creation of Chris “Crispy” Bess, a former keyboard/guitar player for Southern Culture On The Skids and a creator of all sorts of music.
From his collection of Hammond organs and even Casio keyboards, Killer Filler has become the home of his love for surf, rock-a-billy, funk, lounge and greasy R&B music.
Yes, it really is all of that rolled up together and more.
The band — which also features Byron Settle (The Pressure Boys, Lud and lots of others) on guitar, Pete Gamble (Boat Burning) on guitar, Mark Murphy on drums and Rusty Miller on bass — has released just one official album with the 16-track Filler Up. The CD received critical praise from both moody rock critics and hot rod magazines alike.
The band has also recorded the new theme music for the local horror host show Monster Creature Feature with Ormon Grimsby.
These days you can find the band playing in clubs, festivals and hot rod events throughout the Southeast.
But for now, sit back and enjoy. Crispy says so.
