Bowerbirds are gearing up for its nationwide tour with Megafaun in support of the band’s sophomore album, Upper Air.

But before the tour officially kicks off at Black Cat in Washington, D.C. on July 6, the band will stop by for a performance on Sessions at Studio B right here on Music.MyNC. The band is set to perform a handful of songs on Thursday at 4 p.m.; the set will be streamed live on the Music.MyNC homepage.

Already the band has unleashed one song from the album; but on June 15, Bowerbirds released a second song — “Beneath Your Tree.”

“Beneath Your Tree” by Bowerbirds

Label Dead Oceans describes the song as featuring “Phil Moore and Beth Tacular trading lead vocals, before joining in sweet harmony. Moore’s gorgeous melodic sensibilities are accentuated here by the familiar backdrop of accordion, acoustic guitar and percussion.”

Upper Air will be released July 7 through Dead Oceans.

I’ve never heard of Bowerbirds before, but I listened to that little clip that you have with the post and I love it! It reminds me of Coldplay a little bit, and I really like that they have an accordion! It gives them a unique sound. Their voices compliment each other so well! I really like it and I’m surprised that I’ve never heard of them before.
