On Monday, Live Nation revealed that Aerosmith had postponed its Charlotte and Raleigh Guitar Hero: Aerosmith tour stops.

The press release cites “an artist injury,” though a Tweet from guitarist Joe Perry on July 3 listed Steven Tyler as the injured artist.

“Sincere apologies out 2 all Aero Fans regarding the canceled shows,” Perry writes. “It really bums me out too — you have no idea. Pray 4 Stevens speedy return.”

A later Tweet indicated that Tyler may have injured a leg muscle; but when Tyler is good to go, guitarist Brad Whitford would be ready to return to the stage after suffering a head injury earlier in June.

Brad is up and ready to rock as soon as Steven’s leg muscle feels better,” Perry writes.

Aerosmith was scheduled to perform July 7 at the Time Warner Cable Music Pavilion in Raleigh and July 9 in Charlotte. Tickets for both performances will be honored on a later, yet-to-be-announced rescheduled date.

This is the third concert canceled this summer at the Walnut Creek amphitheatre. On June 24, Creed announced that it had canceled its North Carolina dates, while on May 11 New Kids on the Block also canceled its North Carolina stops.
