So Many New Downloads, So Little Time

The download fairy has delivered a basket of new songs for our enjoyment.

ReverbNation and Windows has formed a partnership that Mz. Kelly over at WKNC explains benefits the artists by paying bands $0.50 for every download a song receives. It does not cost fans a thing, they need only sit through a handful of ads while the songs download.

The first track, “Homebodies,” comes from A Rooster for the Masses and the band’s 2008 album Broken Era.

The second is an exclusive track from Hammer No More the Fingers. “Do the Human” is an outtake from the Looking for Bruce recording sessions.

We featured this one last week, but now you can download “Feel Better” from Schooner’s EP that is slated for a fall release.

Off the band’s debut, self-titled LP is “Truth is Tricky” by I Was Totally Destroying It. It may be an oldie, but it’s a gem. Hopefully we’ll see some new tracks as the release of Horror Vacui approaches (Oct. 13!).

Churchkey Records recording artists The Dry Heathens released “Sociopath” on their debut album — 2008’s First Contact With Ground. There is also a music video for the song, over at The Dry Heathens’ MySpace page.

“Street Team” is off Canadian turned Raleighite turned New Yorker Dan Bryk’s most recent release, Pop Psychology. The album was released June 9 and mastered by The Desmonds frontman Jeff Carroll.

Ironically, the only song from this record not recorded in the Triangle (except for Matt and Seamus Kenney’s backing vocals),” Bryk writes.

Another exclusive to this online collabo is “Gin and Tonic” by The Future Kings of Nowhere. Some folks may remember that frontman Shayne O’Neill promised this track a couple of weeks back as an “online release,” and said that details would come along later. Well here it is!

Straying from all of the indie rock, Raleigh alternative metal band Pivot is offering “Wayward Preacher” from the band’s most recent release, 5 Days. The album was released Jan. 10, 2009.

“Red Panda” is from Nathan Oliver’s sophomore LP Cloud Animals, released March 10 through Durham-based Pox World Empire. Cloud Animals as well as the band’s debut, self-titled album is available through Pox and iTunes.

Our friend Jason Adamo also got a track in there: “Miracle” from his Sunflower EP. Jason’s also working on a full length that we’ll hopefully hear later this year.

“On and On” by Bull City originally appeared of the latest in the Compulation series. The album also features tracks from Americans in France, Nathan Oliver, Midtown Dickens, The Strugglers and The Old Ceremony.

Boasting 1,000 free downloads, chances are pretty good there are more songs from Triangle artists within this new MySpace/Windows/ReverbNation crossover. So if you find anything interesting, ring in with a link in our comments. Or head over to the Facebook group supporting Triangle musicians involved in this initiative; the group was established by Adam Eckhardt of A Rooster for the Masses and James Hepler of IWTDI.

The artists get paid with each unique download. So go to the site and click away.
