As we announced on June 4, Polvo hit the studio hard in March and May to record its first album in 12 years, and the first with Merge Records since 1995’s This Eclipse EP.
Now, the ever-so-on-top-of-it folks at Pitchfork have unleashed the first track from the album, as well as the artwork.
“Beggar’s Bowl” by Polvo
“‘Beggar’s Bowl’ is a serious post-Slint banger, jammed with the sort of math-rock guitar theatrics that nobody does anymore,” Tom Breihan with Pitchfork writes.
“It sounds like old Polvo, down to the chanted lyrics and swirly dissonance,” Stereogum adds.
“Beggar’s Bowl” is the third track on the eight-stacked In Prism. The album is due in stores Sept. 8 through the Durham-based label.
