Originally having formed by bassist and lead vocalist Patrick Keenan in Athens, Georgia, The Winter Sounds is now four members deep and spends most of its time in Chicago.

The band recently released its sophomore LP, Church of the Haunted South, digitally, but the album will see a physical release later in July. Folks will be able to pick up the album online or at the band’s live shows — considering their extensive touring schedule, they should pass through the Triangle sometime again soon.
The Winter Sounds performed two tracks off Church of the Haunted South, as well as two brand new tracks — “Four Summers” and “Bird on Fire” — that will be on the next release. You can check out photos from this performance and others at the Music.MyNC Facebook Fan page. And while you’re there, become a fan and get the latest updates on upcoming Studio B performances.
After their performance on B-Sides, The Winter Sounds opened for The Pneurotics at Nightlight in Chapel Hill. The Secret Carrboro Ninja has a review and photos from that show.
