I guess since Ryan Adams isn’t hearing things too well, he’s traded his guitar for a pen because the prolific songwriter looks to be more of a penpusher with his second book of poetry slated to come out Dec. 1.

Of course, if you’re jonesing for some new Ryan Adams, Akashic Books is offering up preorders for Hello Sunshine, which the publishing house promises will ship Aug. 10. And with your brand new stack of poetic verse, Adams is including a limited number of autographed chapbooks tentatively titled Pink Magic.

“This collection was a beautiful way for me to wrap up my narrative verse style of writing before I move into writing short stories and novels,” Adams writes. “Maybe this book really is more about my connection to my senses and to the romantic.”

Romantic? Could “Hello Sunshine” be another nod to his new wife Mandy Moore? It’s highly possible considering his recent cheerful demeanor.

“Where I was scared to read Infinity Blues after I wrote it, Hello Sunshine makes me want to eat ice cream. This book is about, quite simply, how it might feel to surrender to a love. It will reinforce everyone’s fear that I am smarter than them.”

The book is available for preorder for $50 plus a $10 shipping charge.
