We’re only three and a half months into 2009 and already a few shows are popping up for 2010. Among them is the eldest daughter of the late county music legend Johnny Cash — Roseanne Cash.
According to touring trade publication Pollstar, Cash will perform at Duke University Page Auditorium on April 16, 2010. Cash, who won a Grammy in 1985 for “I Don’t Know Why You Don’t Want Me,” is a contributor to the New York Times “Measure for Measure” music blog along with The dB’s frontman Peter Holsapple and former Squirrel Nut Zippers honorary member Andrew Bird.
On the other end of Tobacco Road, the Preservation Hall Jazz Band will perform at UNC’s Memorial Hall on Jan. 10, 2010 with the Blind Boys of Alabama. The Blind Boys won a Grammy on Feb. 8, 2009 for their Gospel album Down in New Orleans. The award was the band’s fifth gramophone.
Of course it’s still way too early for ticketing information as the Universities’ 2009-2010 performance seasons have not even been announced. But keep an eye here as the schedules begin to form and more information is made available.
