With the bassist moving to keys, the keyboardist moving to the head mic and the frontman moving to bass, Chapel Hill-based Lake Inferior launched into a cover of MGMT’s “Electric Feel” that had walls of Local 506 shaking as the crowd bounced in unison.

It was in that moment that the band asserted itself as one to watch in ‘09 with their newly released, self-titled EP and the backing of student-run Vinyl Records behind them.

The band was joined by labelmates Apollo and Lafcadio in celebrating the release of their Vinyl Records debuts. In addition to “Electric Feel,” Lake Inferior performed songs from their debut EP and was accompanied by a string ensemble for their opening song.
