On Friday, Jan. 30, hip-hop emcee Apollo took the stage at Local 506 along with fellow Vinyl Records labelmates Lafcadio and Lake Inferior to celebrate the release of their new albums. For all of the artists, these were their debut albums released on the Chapel Hill-based record label.
Hailing from Wilmington but currently residing in Chapel Hill, Apollo performed songs from The Architect, which — according to Apollo — covers “universal subjects of faith, aspiration, hope and the power of music.” Lafcadio bassist Eric Notarnicola joined Apollo on stage.
Vinyl Records is a student-run records label that sets out to cultivate the music community at UNC-Chapel Hill. On Feb. 27, the label will host its “February Face-Off” during which bands will vie for a spot on the Vinyl Records roster.
