Chapel Hill-based Western Civ relocated to the area from Muscle Sholes, Ala. to pursue their dream of indie rock stardom.
By teaming up with famed producer Mitch Easter (R.E.M., Let’s Active, Superchunk), Western Civ has crafted an album that sets them apart in a class with the likes of Dinosaur Jr. and Pavement. Easter’s influences are abound on the album with elements of Murmur and Brighten the Corners echoing through every track.
On Feb. 26, Western Civ celebrated the release of Shower the People You Love With Gold with a performance at Local 506 in Chapel Hill. Supporting the band was none other than Mitch Easter as well as Chapel Hill’s Embarrassing Fruits.
