Just say the name Dexter Romweber among music fans and you are sure to get a variety of reactions.

Mad man. Musical genius. Revisionist visionary. True to his calling. Hardcore. Artist.
But some words you will not find are sell out, quitter, flavor of the day.
In music circles, Dexter Romweber is his own category.
He is a classical pianist with an album of original compositions under his belt. He is a bare knuckles rocker who cut a swath through music with the Flat Duo Jets in the ’80s and ’90s. He is also a solo artist who has inspired some of today’s best: Jack White of the White Stripes and The Raconteurs, to name just one. Finally he is even an actor with a recent role in the film Lake City starring Sissy Spacek, Keith Carradine, Rebecca Romjin and Dave Matthews as well as the subject of the documentary Two-Headed Cow.
On Tuesday, Feb. 10, Dexter and his sister Sara Romweber (Let’s Active, Snatches of Pink) started a new chapter with the release of Ruins of Berlin as the Dex Romweber Duo. The album, released on Bloodshot Records, features a variety of guests from Cat Power to Neko Case and Rick Miller of Southern Culture on the Skids. The album was produced by John Plymale of Chapel Hill.
Also on Feb. 10, Dex and Sara stopped by the NBC17 studios for a performance on Sessions at Studio B. You can check out photos from this performance and others at the Music.MyNC Facebook Fan page. And while you’re there, become a fan and get the latest updates on upcoming Studio B performances.
