Favorite Gentlemen recording artists Manchester Orchestra will hit the road in April in support of their up-coming sophomore LP, Mean Everything to Nothing.

“I’ve Got Friends” by Manchester Orchestra

Starting in Nashville and snaking across the United States through June, the tour is scheduled to drop the indie rock outfit in Carrboro on April 23 at Cat’s Cradle. The tour will end with a two-date engagement at The Social in Orlando.

With the band’s debut album — 2007’s I’m Like A Virgin Losing A Child — frontman Andy Hull created a cast of characters to present his material. However, two years later Hull finds it more powerful to sing his songs himself rather than use a fictional persona.

“I was able to be more honest when singing as someone else,” Hull says. “Now I’ve realized, although it’s incredibly difficult, it’s more powerful to just say it myself.”

Mean Everything to Nothing is due in stores April 21, 2009 through Canvasback and Favorite Gentlemen Recordings. FUN (featuring former members of The Format and Anathallo), Audrye Sessions and Winston Audio will support Manchester Orchestra on its tour.

Tickets for the performance at Cat’s Cradle will go on sale to fans on Feb. 27 and to the public on March 5 for $10 in advance and $12 the day of the show.
