Chapel Hill-based indie rockers Western Civ has made a track from the band’s up-coming new album available for download in varying format’s on the band’s Web site.

“I Am A Waterfall” from Shower the People You Love With Gold can be streamed on the band’s MySpace page or downloaded from its Web site. The album will be released on Feb. 24 and a CD release party is planned for Feb. 26 at Local 506 in Chapel Hill.

Mitch Easter of Let’s Active fame produced and engineered the album, and the art work was provided by WJ Cabler. Easter is probably best known for his work with R.E.M. on Murmur and Reckoning, Pavement on Brighten the Corners, Dinosaur Jr. on Whatever’s Cool with Me and Superchunk.

Especially Dinosaur Jr., traces of Easter’s work with any of those bands can be heard in “I Am A Waterfall.”
