Nearly two years in the making, Chapel Hill’s North Elementary recently released its new album Not for Everyone Just for You.
“This record became almost a monkey on my back, because I do think it’s special,” frontman John Harrison told the News & Observer’s David Menconi. “It came together in a way that made me want to take care of it and give it the best opportunity to be out there. It wasn’t about money, it was about wanting to work with people who identified with it as much as I did.”
To celebrate this long-awaited release, the band will host a free album release party on Jan. 9 at Cat’s Cradle in Carrboro. The Kingsbury Manx and Erie Choir will open the show along with comedic troupe Popular Kids.

Grayson Currin at Independent Weekly also has a great interview with North Elementray during which Currin played 13 very different songs for Harrison and recorded his reactions.
