Raleigh-based Gross Ghost revealed two new tracks today from the group’s up-coming new album, Miggaz. Vocalist Mike Dillon posted “Exstatic” and “Hysterical Blindness” to the band’s MySpace page from the new album; which is due out in the next “month or so” on Random Tapes.
The band’s style is an amalgamation of influences that is probably best described by Dillon: “All Mike listens to is Big Boi, and all Tre [Acklen] listens to is music by pretty foreign girls he’d never talk to if he saw them in person.”
But really, if you’re looking for a comparison, look no further than Animal Collective for the group’s dense, often awkward textures.
“We enjoy Animal Collective very much and have gotten that comparison before,” Dillon said. “I’d say it’s found sounds from junk equipment we find around the house. We love reverb, improv and tape loops and drums.”
Also on the MySpace front, The Love Language frontman Stuart McLamb announced that the first shipments of the band’s new LP has arrived, and fans can score a copy before its March 17 release date.
McLamb says that he has about 100 copies of the album sitting in his garage, and if he so happens to receive a check for $12 in the mail, the sender can look forward to an unwrapped copy in exchange. He is also selling The Love Language T-shirts for $10.
Anyone who wants a copy of the self-titled album should send a check to:
