Ben Folds Five had its first performance at a Battle of the Bands at Duke University in 1988. Twenty-one years later, Ben Folds will return to the City of Medicine when he performs at the new Durham Performing Arts Center on Feb. 25.

Formerly of Ben Folds Five and a staple in the Chapel Hill Music scene, Folds is touring in support of his 2008 album Way To Normal.

Folds last performed in the Triangle at a one-off reunion with Ben Folds Five on Sept. 18, 2008 at UNC’s Memorial Hall in Chapel Hill. The event was sponsored by MySpace as a part of the social networking site’s “Front to Back” series.

This is the latest addition to DPAC’s growing schedule of stellar performers during its inaugural season. The venue kicked off the season with blues legend B.B. King, and alternative rock legend Morrissey will perform on March 11 with Eli Paperboy Reed & the True Loves. Willie Nelson is scheduled to perform on Feb. 20 with nine-time Grammy Award winners Asleep at the Wheel.

Ticketing information for the performance has not yet been revealed, but an announcement from DPAC is expected shortly.
