Well, one out of five ain’t bad.
David Menconi of the On the Beat blog once again has the scoop on the Music Pavilion at Walnut Creek‘s summer concert schedule. It seems another country music superstar will be gracing Raleigh when Brad Paisley hits the stage at the outdoor venue on June 5 with Dierks Bentley and Jimmy Wayne.
Just last week it was announced that Jimmy Buffett would return to the Triangle for the first time in six years with a performance at Walnut Creek on April 23. Paisley joins the previously announced country artists George Strait with Julianne Hough and Blake Shelton, and Kenny Chesney with Miranda Lambert and Lady Antebellum.
This shouldn’t come as too much of a surprise considering the venue’s sales records for country music concerts. Last year, Chesney drew the largest crowd to the venue with 37,841 people attending the Aug. 22 and 23 dates. In total, country concerts made up nearly 40 percent of the pavilion’s attendance with 136,000 people.
One ray of hope for the summer schedule will be when Dave Matthews Band performs on April 22. Like him or not, Matthews knows how to put on a show and he surrounds himself with nothing less than a stellar group of musicians. It should be interesting to see how Béla Fleck and the Flecktones saxophonist Jeff Coffin will fill the void left by the passing of LeRoi Moore; and it will of course be a treat to see guitar virtuoso Tim Reynolds join the band on tour.
Plus there will be the added treat of seeing Concord, N.C. natives The Avett Brothers open for Dave.
Ticket information for the Brad Paisley concert has not yet been revealed, though they will certainly be available at the venue’s box office as well as through Live Nation.

Wow – those are some great lineups.
Interesting that Chuck Wicks didn’t get the gig with Julianne.
I thought they were a package deal but Blake Shelton is a better choice.
Chuck better be careful though because Julianne has a reputation of hooking up the people she works with and he should know that first hand.
