The Independent Weekly posted its annual list of the best songs of the year from local musicians. But considering 2008 was such an amazing year for Triangle music, the publication bumped the list up from 35 songs to 40.

The list is culled from the best of all the tracks submitted by Indy’s dozen music writers.

Here are some of my favorites:
“California” by American Aquarium

“Hardwood Floor” by Annuals

“Pride (Won’t Get Us Where We’re Going)” by Thad Cockrell

“Martha Ann” by David Karsten Daniels

“Daykeeper” by The Foreign Exchange

“Hella Jean” by Goner

“Kool With It” by Kooley High

“Boy from School” by Portastatic

“Nice Fox” by The Rosebuds

You can see the rest of the list here.
