Chapel Hill’s The Old Ceremony is set to release its new album on Feb. 9, 2009, and the band will celebrate the event with a release party at Cat’s Cradle in Carrboro on Valentine’s Day.

Led by songwriter Django Haskins, Walk On Thin Air is the band’s third full-length release and first since 2006’s Our One Mistake. Paste Magazine named Our One Mistake to its “Top 100 Albums of 2006,” and The Old Ceremony was named Best Band in Orange/Chatham Counties in the 2008 Independent Weekly Readers’ Poll.

Walk On Thin Air will be released on Durham-based Alyosha Records. The cover art for the album was created by Swedish illustrator Mattias Adolfsson.

Tickets for the album release party are now available through etix.
