Squirrel Nut Zippers expatriate Andrew Bird has confirmed a slew of dates for his up-coming 2009 tour.
Bird will be touring in support of his forthcoming new album, Noble Beast, the follow-up to the acclaimed 2007 album Armchair Apocrypha. Unfortunately, none of the dates on the initial leg of his tour will pass through the Triangle; with his closest stops being in Atlanta and D.C.
Swedish singer-songwriter Loney, Dear will open the majority of the shows with the exception of the kick-off concert at Carnegie Hall, which will feature Dosh.
Although not an official member of Chapel Hill’s Squirrel Nut Zippers, Bird found initial success contributing his violin to the albums Hot, Perennial Favorites and Bedlam Ballroom. Bird began his trek as a frontman with the 1997 release of Thrills with his band Andrew Bird’s Bowl of Fire.
Noble Beast is due in stores on Jan. 20, 2009. You can check out “Oh No” from the up-coming album below.
